Terms & Conditions:

General Policies:
  • Spaces are filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • Every adult, or guardian of an underage child, must sign a Release of Liability Waiver to use the studio. Although we do everything in our power to minimize risk, there are health hazards associated with clay activities and we require that each person be responsible for their ability to participate.
  • Additional clay is available for purchase.
  • When creating your masterpiece, please be aware that over-sized and/or odd shaped pieces may delay the firing process because they don’t fit in the kiln well.
  • Clay sometimes cracks while drying or breaks in the kiln. Taking a class does not guarantee the success of your project. While we do our absolute best to prevent such an occurrence, some outcomes simply can't be controlled by our staff.
  • You have 45 days after your class to return and pick up your fired piece(s). The studio reserves the right to sell, donate or discard anything left longer.

Refund/Cancellation Policy:
  • A $10 processing fee is incurred for cancellations made two weeks prior to class start.
  • Cancellations made within the two weeks prior to class start window are not eligible for a refund.
  • We will transfer your registration to a different class at no additional cost if notified before close of business the previous Friday before the start of the class.
  • Missed classes a.k.a. “No Shows” are not refunded and are not eligible for transferring to a different class. We are not liable for your absences. Make-up classes are not included. You may schedule a make-up time at $10 per hour outside of the class after attending the first two weeks in class. Ultimately, you are responsible for your absences and choices in life.
  • All refunds will be issued by written check mailed to the home address on the registration form.

GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT OUR POTTERY WHEEL CLASSES:
Wheel Throwing classes have up to 6 spaces each.
You may inquire about availability of spaces by calling or emailing the studio. You can sign up and register for a class by stopping by the studio and putting a down payment or paying in full to hold your spot in the class you wish to attend.
CLASS REGISTRATION IS FIRST COME, FIRST SERVE. $40 WILL HOLD YOUR SPOT OR PAY IN FULL WHEN YOU REGISTER.

WHAT'S INCLUDED:
DETAILED DEMONSTRATIONS & GUIDANCE FROM INSTRUCTOR, TOOLS, EQUIPMENT, ELECTRIC KILN FIRINGS AND DIPPING GLAZES ARE INCLUDED IN THE CLASS FEE. STUDENTS ARE EXPECTED TO CLEAN-UP WHEELS & WORK AREAS EACH NIGHT OF CLASS AND/OR OTHER WORK TIMES ATTENDED OUTSIDE OF CLASS TIMES.
A ONE-TIME $40 NON-REFUNDABLE REGISTRATION FEE IS REQUIRED FOR ALL NEW CLASS PARTICIPANTS. THIS FEE COVERS YOUR FIRST BAG OF CLAY TO USE IN CLASS. CLAY IS PURCHASED SEPARATELY THEREAFTER.
YOU MAY EXPECT ONE TO TEN FINISHED PIECES ON AVERAGE, BASED ON YOUR EXPERIENCE AND SKILL LEVEL FROM EACH SESSION (4 WEEKS).  YOU MAY PURCHASE ADDITIONAL GLAZE AND KILN SPACE IF MORE THAN 10 PIECES (of average size [1" to 4"]) ARE FINISHED IN ONE SESSION. LARGER PIECES TAKE MORE SPACE IN THE KILN AND THEREFORE COST MORE TO FIRE & GLAZE. ADDITIONAL FEES SHALL BE ASSESSED AS NEEDED.
TOOLS ARE AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE AS WELL, IF YOU LIKE TO HAVE YOUR OWN. PAINT-ON GLAZES IN BOTTLES ARE ALSO AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE. IN CLASSES, DIPPING GLAZES ARE INCLUDED, BUT NOT THE PAINT-ON GLAZES.

SOME DEFINITIONS:

FINISHED PIECES: MEANS AN OBJECT THAT IS GLAZED & KILN-FIRED TO VITRIFICATION.
CLASS: MEANS VISITING AND USING THE STUDIO ON A PARTICULAR DATE & TIME, LIKE MONDAY NIGHT FROM 6 PM TO 9 PM. HOWEVER, IT CAN ALSO BE USED AS A GENERAL TITLE IN CONJUNCTION WITH SESSIONS.
SESSION: MEANS A SET OF CLASSES ATTENDED OVER A PERIOD OF SEVERAL WEEKS. (Up to 10 pieces of average size [1" to 4"] are included in the class fees per SESSION.) (4 weeks)
VITRIFICATION OR VITRIFIED: MEANS ESSENTIALLY, WATERPROOF. THE CLAY HAS SHRUNK AS FAR AS IT CAN GO TO BECOME WATERTIGHT.
SOME OF THESE DEFINITIONS MAY NOT APPLY TO THE MONTH OF JULY.

OTHER STUDIO INFORMATION, TERMS AND AGREEMENTS:
A minimum of 3 to 12 months, twice a week, is typically needed in order to gain proficient skill levels. After throwing 100 pieces, proficiency is coming right along.
A one-time (NON-REFUNDABLE) $40 registration/start-up fee, in addition to the class fee, holds your space in a class and includes your first 25 lb. bag of clay.
Schedules and prices subject to change.
Payments accepted: Cash, Check, Credit Cards.
$35.00 cash fee for all NSF returned checks.
You should have the ability to push, move, or lift & carry 25-50 pounds in order to participate in classes.

Should you decide to quit before the end of the term, but after attending the first or subsequent classes, due to pre-existing medical conditions which become aggravated from pottery related activities, a failure to disclose & discuss with instructor any medical, health, mental, or physically limiting factors before registration, forfeits any and all rights to refunds of paid fees in full or part for the remainder of paid terms after the first class is attended. You must disclose and discuss such conditions before committing to start a pottery related activity or class. Depending on condition, you may be advised to not enroll. If you receive an adverse notification and choose to enroll anyway, you agree to waive any and all rights to refunds of paid fees in full or part for the remainder of the paid terms should you change your mind for ANY reason (not just those mentioned above) about attending.
The nature of wheel throwing often causes cuts and abrasions of hands, making blood-borne pathogens transmissible. Such conditions must be disclosed prior to starting a class so that precautions can be taken to minimize or prevent incidents. Persons with such conditions will be liable to the extent of the law should any transmissions occur. Warts on hands are included in this statement.
Persons with respiratory ailments, such as tuberculosis or asthma, should not pursue activities with clay & glazes, due to the nature of the materials. Anyone with a transmissible respiratory ailment should not attend class, including flus and colds. The studio is not liable for such absences.
Class fees are not refundable after the first class is attended, unless a replacement can be found to take your space, but even then, a refund is not guaranteed. Do not ask for refunds. When you sign up for a class you understand and agree to these terms. Cancellations must be made two weeks prior to the start of the class in order to receive a refund of class fees. The $40 registration fee is not refundable. The studio is not liable for events that occur that prevent you from taking a class. The studio is not liable for your absences from classes and make up classes are not included, nor are makeup sessions the responsibility of the studio to fulfill.
The work space environment is not suitable for children under the age of 6 years. Children ages 8-12 who try wheel throwing may not succeed at this time. Such failure may prevent them from trying again when they are more capable. Younger children require more (100%) one-on-one, hands-on instruction, which is not available in a class situation with multiple students.
Registrations received with the non-refundable registration fee of $40 dollars by mail will receive confirmation of space availability by email unless verified in person at the studio. The registration fee is exchanged for the enrollee's first bag of clay to use in class. Clay is purchased separately thereafter. Submitting a registration form does not guarantee placement in a class. Classes are filled on a first come, first served basis. Fees are not transferable to other persons (except as mentioned above) or other classes. No refunds & no make-up sessions for missed classes, business trips, work schedule changes, vacations, sickness, or holidays, nor for any other reasons for absences. Detailed demonstrations & guidance from instructor, tools, equipment, electric kiln firings and dipping glazes (up to 10 pieces of average size [1" to 4"]) are included in the class fee. Large wheel thrown pieces created by advanced-level potters will cost more per firing for glaze and firing space in the kilns and will be assessed as needed and paid for at the time of service. Raku firings are separate from throwing classes.
In order to run a safe, dust-reduced, workplace, everyone must follow studio rules as discussed in classes. Thorough cleanup of work spaces is expected with every visit, class, or work time using the studio.  Self-awareness is imperative to working safely with pottery materials.
