Studio Time on Your Time
Giving people the opportunity to take part in a clay community is a priority at Clay Art Space. We know that a set time frame won’t work for everybody, so we are testing to see what works to offer you the convenience of working with clay independently. We offer unlimited use* of our studio to those over age 18 (terms and conditions) who have taken our Wheel Throwing Classes.
Our membership numbers are growing. Participants from the monthly wheel throwing class get to know each other and then want to continue spending time together in the studio during membership hours. ** To form a true community art center, users need to follow set rules and studio etiquette to keep the space safe for everyone utilizing the opportunity presented.
There are several different options for those wanting extended time and use of the studio. Paying "By the Hour", purchasing a Day Pass, Punch Card, or Studio Pass. Please note that these options do not include the cost of classes, workshops, tools, materials, clay, glazes and kiln firing fees. Purchasing and attending a month-long wheel throwing class is required before buying one of these options. Use of your own set of tools and wheel bats are required for all options below.
By the Hour
At $10 per hour, this is the most economical solution for those with one or two hours of studio work to do.
Day Pass
The Day Pass option allows unlimited use* for a single day. It includes “in-and-out” privileges, and allows current members to bring someone into the studio with them. It is beneficial for those with friends, family or out of town visitors who are interested in working with clay. The one to whom the day pass is issued is fully responsible for the use and cleaning of the studio for themselves and their guest. Cost: $25.
Punch Card
This option is best for those who want to keep their clay skills sharp after taking a month-long class, and are planning to work in the studio on a weekly basis for a short term. The Punch Card option has 10, all-day-long, unlimited use* visits with in-and-out privileges. A punch card may be purchased after attending the month-long class and must be utilized within 6 months from purchase. Use of your own set of tools and wheel bats is required (these must be clean of other clays before using in our environment). Plan to purchase your own tools & bats in addition to the Punch Card. Tools and bats are available for purchase at the studio. If the card is not used in 6 months, plan to take a refresher month-long class before using the punch card. Cost: $230.
Studio Membership
The Studio Membership option is best for those who want frequent use of the studio. Membership is set up on auto-pay for your convenience. Studio Memberships are sold individually. Each provides unlimited studio use* for the specified number of months. Setting up auto-pay is the only payment option for all but the one month Studio Pass. Studio Membership Passes are non-transferable and non-refundable.
12 Months - Cheapest for long term
6 Months - Cheaper than 3 months
3 Months - Less than the 1 month
1 Month - $100/month
There are several benefits to being a Clay Art Space Member. It provides individuals with:
* “Unlimited Use” Exceptions:
** Why participation in a Beginner or Intermediate/Advanced Wheel Throwing Class is required: We have learned that repeated exposures, instructions, and practice of our Studio Policies and Procedures (P&P’s) is required for full integration. Without it, people don't know what to do or they forget….. and have left messes for someone else to clean up or contaminated our recycle system and the glaze buckets. We want you to know how to use this studio correctly and know what is expected. We don't want you to assume you know, because you have had experience in another clay studio somewhere. While some may say that our P&P's are complex, they have been developed with time, experience, and patience. They have proven to be the best way to create a safe community studio and maintain our clean working environment to minimize clay and glaze’s hazards and allow for the recycling of as much material as possible.
