Marketing & Merchandising Manager

We are seeking a Marketing & Merchandising Manager to oversee the day to day functions of advertising, marketing, & merchandising a pottery studio and pyop gallery store.

Skills and Duties involve:
  • Creating and managing web content,  blogs, on Weebly-Square platforms
  • Photographing inventory and working closely with the inventory specialist to streamline content.
  • Posting weekly and monthly themes, classes, and events on multiple social media platforms, newspapers, and creating flyers for other free advertising opportunities.
  • Gallery, PYOP, and store set up and display of products to create a pleasing visual arrangement and encourage sales of inventory.
  • Find artist who want to display and hold a First Friday type art opening each month. The candidate will oversee the whole event, engaging artists, marketing, to clean up at the end and work closely with each artist to make sure their event is successful. This may include teaching new artists how to have an event and prepare their work for hanging, displaying, pricing, framing, etc. The job includes food setup and cleanup. Work with the inventory specialist to get the inventory in our POS system before opening night.
A great candidate for this position is also prepared to offer and teach art related classes to our clientele. The successful candidate has the ability to generate income for the studio to increase wages after all expenses are covered. Wages paid depend on how successful the manager is in performing the tasks and may take some time to generate the desired wages. A successful candidate for this position shows motivation to increase income, is organized, logical, analytical, creative, frugal, and business minded. The candidate may be familiar with QuickBooks and other essential softwares required to run a small business in today's market. The candidate may have helpful creative abilities in addition to other required skills. The candidate creates content without typographical errors and is able to proof and edit content carefully before posting or printing. The candidate that holds this position understands that we are running a business first that is art related, not an artist first, running a business. Starting pay is $11/hr until studio income increases to support paying more wages. Increased wages depend on efforts to create financial success first.
