Polymer Clay Sculpture Class

Build a sculpture with polymer clay then paint in the details. Learn to draw your idea, build a wire armature, sculpt with polymer clay, then paint the figure. Learn by making a small item using the techniques presented. Bring a picture of your favorite icon, hero or character to get started. You will need to bring a sketchbook and pencil. 

Class provides 10 hours of instructions, wood base, wire armature, neutral polymer clay, and paint.

Kids Poly Clay Adventures Class

Get started working with poly clay. Learn a few basic techniques. Join us for a one hour adventure with poly clay.  We'll be using a gray, black, or beige single color to make a small item. After the items is baked, you can take it home to apply acrylic paint. Small items can become jewelry, earrings, D & D Characters, zipper pulls and other cool stuff.

Combination Class
Students learn basic hand building and wheel thrown techniques in this 2 day class.
Day 1:
  • Students learn studio etiquette
  • Students make a pinch pot
  • Students learn the hand building coil method
  • Students make a coil pot
Day 2:
  • Students learn the basics of the wheel throwing method
  • Watch a live demonstration on throwing a bowl
  • Students try wheel throwing and attempt to make their own bowl while trying the technique
  • Students clean up their wheel and tools thoroughly which shows respect for the craft
  • Due to the difficulty of this task it is reserved for older students during Covid-19 social distancing requirements. Younger students need hands-on support which is close-up and not recommended yet.

Coil Vase Making Day Class

Students learn the coil-built method

This class meets the first Thursday of every month from 3 pm-5 pm

Students learn:
  • Basic hand building skills
  • The coil building technique
  • The significance of the coil method for strengthening and fortifying hand built projects

Slab Mug Day Class
Not available right now.

Students learn the basics of rolling slabs and using them to create functional projects

This class meets the second Thursday of every month from 3 pm-5 pm

Students learn:
  • Two methods of rolling a slab
  • How to make a mug using the slab method
  • How to make a handle using the slab method
  • Attaching pieces using basic hand building skills

Thursday Hand Built Basics Class

This class mostly goes over proper studio etiquette. It is geared towards students who would like to use the studio for their own projects in their own time. Thursday 6-8 pm.

Students learn:
  • Proper studio etiquette
  • The slab technique
  • The coil technique
  • How to look after the hand building space

Optional Glaze Day

This is a day students can come in to glaze their hand built projects with brush on, low fire or stoneware glazes. 

This class is unavailable at the moment. Otherwise it would be on appx. the 4th Friday of the month from 5 pm - 7 pm
