Hand Building Workshop events are One-Day or Multiple-Day classes that get you in the studio creating a specific project lead by one of our excellent instructors. These are a great way to get your hands in clay for a short duration and to learn a new technique quickly. These workshops are a fun introduction to hand building clay with an instructor doing a specific themed project and will develop your skill set in clay. These workshops are a fun way spend time with a friend or a loved one while working with your hands in clay to make something. Some workshops are for adults only, while other are suitable for homeschool classes and younger artists. These do not teach enough studio etiquette to qualify for membership use of the studio, unless you sign up for a lot of them and demonstrate your use of the information in action.

Adult Hand Building Workshops
Up to 6 people per workshop. Enjoy a fairly one-on-one experience with our talented instructors. All attendees make one project. We do all the glazing & firing. Read below to learn the specifics and to book your spot for yourself or for you and your friends together! We recommend this activity for adults only.
- Plan on a 2-hour session. Plan to get a little bit messy. Remove rings, jewelry, long necklaces and watches before throwing. Trim your fingernails. Tie up long hair to keep it out of harms way. Do not wear perfumes, please.
- Everyone will sign a Release of Liability Waiver upon arriving.
- After clay is used, hand washing is done only in the buckets of water provided. Clay, of any amount, does not go in any of our sinks and drains.
- A hands on demonstration of the project will be given by an instructor, while everyone follows along. Then a little bit of clean up after finishing.
- The instructor will be on hand to verbally coach you along.
- Everyone will get an appropriate amount of clay to make the project.
- There are five glaze colors to choose from. We (the staff of Clay Art Space) will care for your pieces, kiln fire, and dip glaze all the pieces after the workshop is over.
- Individuals may paint or glaze their own project by making an appointment with the instructor for a specific day and time with a limited palette to choose from for an extra fee to cover the time and materials.
- The finished pieces will be ready to pick up in appx. 8 - 20 weeks. We will call you to let you know they are done.
- Kiln firing times vary and not all pieces fit into the same kiln firing, so it can take a while to get all the pieces fired.
- $95 per person
- Purchase your space on our website.
Cancellation Policy: If you don't show up for your paid time slot, we accept your purchase price as a donation to our cause. Your payment is forfeited and non-refundable. Thank you for helping the studio survive after a pandemic. We really appreciate your support.
**Quality of work produced is not guaranteed. A fun time and friends bonding are a large part of the purpose of the experience. There are health hazards associated with clay activities and each person is responsible for their ability to participate in this activity. Please be aware of our fragrance and pet allergy policies, meaning don't wear perfumes and pets are not allowed in our facility, especially furry ones. We ask for your consideration to wear clothing that does not have pet hairs clinging to them. We are also a Glitter-Free zone.
**Long hair must be tied up in a braid or a secure ponytail that won't fall forward. Hair can get in the way and your hands will be messy. Jewelry such as long necklaces, finger rings, bracelets, and watches should be removed before working with clay. Fingernails should be trimmed or cut short. Long or fancy fingernails interfere with producing pottery.
**Please refrain from using perfumes and other man-made scents when planning to visit the studio.
**Face-Masks are recommended in the studio if you have a cough.
**For everyone's safety and well being, you must certify that all members of your group are in good health and have not been exposed to covid-19 or have other signs of illness. If you have tested positive, or suspect you have covid-19, we ask that you not enter our premises at all. If you have been contacted after being near someone who has tested positive, please complete a 14 day quarantine and get tested at least twice to show two negative results.
**Due to allergies, please ensure your clothing is free of fragrances, perfumes, pet hairs and dander.
