Home School Combination Class for Pottery (Ages 15 - 18)
In this class students (age 15 -18) learn the basics of pottery by making a pot using the pinch method, a pot using the coil method, and a bowl using the wheel thrown method.
This class takes place weekly and meets Thursday and Friday from 3 pm - 4:30 pm.
Students learn:
- The basics of hand building using the pinch and coil method
- The basics of wheel throwing: Wedging clay, centering, and throwing
Students get to keep their pieces. Wheel thrown pieces will be trimmed by the instructor several days after the class.
This class is $180 per week and includes the cost of materials and bisque firing.
*There is an optional glaze day if students would like their pieces to be glazed & fired. This class meets appx. on the fourth Thursday of every month, 5 pm - 7 pm. It is $30 per piece; this covers the cost of glaze materials, glazing lesson, and glaze kiln firing up to 5" square*. Larger items are assessed extra fees to glaze and fire.
