Fall 2020 Update:
After a spring and summer of covid-19, lay-offs, hunker-downs and reduced hours, we are reopening and offering art classes designed for elementary, middle, and high school ages starting in September 2020 onward. To start with, we are welcoming our new employee to launch our new programs. I'd like to introduce you to Brian Adams, a recent graduate of UAA, and an alumni of Polaris K-12. He has experience with teaching kids and adults how to draw and paint. He leads our new drawing classes using graphite and colored pencils, beginning with shapes and shading to more technical perspective drawings. We will eventually offer clay classes in handbuilding, small sculptures, and wheel throwing for kids, and acrylic painting on canvas and rocks. We are working on getting the space allocated to allow for larger work areas to facilitate social distancing requirements. We are wanting to get on board with as many homeschools as possible and we welcome any assistance on how to do so or who to correspond with. We've started with Family Partnership and we are ready to branch out, but we are not 100% familiar with all of the requirements of each school. Please reach out to us with info or contacts to follow up with to add more schools. Painting of ceramics is also still available in the PYOP take home kits and this is a way to be creative and take a break from the screen time. Painting ceramics is a skill builder and is also fun to do. The mystery is what will it look like after it gets fired in the kiln. You can purchase and pick up a kit to work on at home, then return the painted items to the studio for the kiln firing. Clay Art Space is a an art studio aiming to provide a place for the community to come together for the love of art. The founder, Jenny Ditto, has over thirty five years of experience with wheel thrown pottery. She started Clay Art Space to share her wealth of knowledge with the community and to expand what she offers into a variety of other art mediums.
We are delighted to begin teaching classes for home school students. We offer a variety of classes to fit your students specific multimedia art credit needs. Our courses are currently being offered to high school students (ages 13 and up) and we are approved vendors for the Anchorage School District.
